As a Connect ULR you are not thrown in the deep end but you get training for the role. The ULR training course has been tailored for Connect and it runs over four days in two two-day parts. There are normally two to three weeks between the two parts with course assignments.
The course is interactive, encouraging everyone to take part and share their experiences and ideas. On the course we do a lot of work in small groups to give everyone an opportunity to discuss and reflect on the course themes.
The course covers the following areas:
- The role of the ULR in Connect
- Identifying learning needs
- Barriers to learning
- A systematic approach to problems
- Working with members
- Working with employers
- Promoting the ULR role
- Recording information
- How learning can build Connect
- Personal development planning and action plan
Connect will cover the course, travel, accommodation and meal costs.
If you are interested in a ULR role and want to apply for a course contact Anne O'Connor anne.oconnor@connectuk.org or 020 8971 6052.
